We make our ceertified organic tempeh in small batches using split and hulled soybeans certified organic by Ecocert Canada. Unique among tempeh producers in the US is that Rhapsody tempeh is made using two different culture strains instead of one resulting in a broader fermentation. Tempeh (pronounced tèm-pay) is a traditional, cultured soy food from Indonesia.

Tempeh is easy to digest, it is among the best providers of high quality plant-based protein and low in saturated fats; free of cholesterol; and a good source of vitamins (especially B vitamins) and minerals (including magnesium, potassium, zinc and manganese).

The culturing process transforms the soybeans into a new food, called tempeh, with totally new characteristics. For instance, a person allergic to soy beans might be able to enjoy tempeh without experiencing the allergic reactions he or she would normally experience when eating plain soy beans.
